The short version
parkfor.now takes payment for parking on private lots. It keeps what the lot and its tow partner need to tell a paid car from an unpaid one, and nothing is sold or shared beyond that.
What it collects
- Parking: your plate and its state, the lot, the time you bought, what you paid, when it started and ends, and a photo of the car if you add one.
- Payment: Stripe takes your card or wallet on its own page. We never see the card number; Stripe tells us the payment went through and how much.
- Lot owners: an email address, the lot's details and a passkey. Payouts are set up with Stripe, which holds the bank details.
- Requests: your IP address, browser, the page you asked for and the time, in server logs and in a record of actions taken on the site.
- Use: one counter of page views and taps on the main buttons, with the site that sent you, your browser, screen size and a rough location from your IP address.
Why
To take payment, to show the lot and its tow partner who has paid, to keep a record a tow can be checked against, to secure the site and to see which pages work.
Who else sees it
The lot owner and the lot's tow partner see plates, times and photos for that lot. Stripe processes payments. The providers that host the site act for us. Nobody else, unless the law requires it. Data is processed in the United States.
How long
Parking records, photos and the record of actions are kept until they are deleted. Server logs and backups are kept for a limited time.
Tracking
The page view counter sets no cookie, and nothing follows you to other sites. Lot owners get a sign-in cookie, and forms carry a cookie that stops forged requests. If you tap Accept, one cookie records that, and another remembers your plate and state so the next lot's page fills them in. Without Accept neither is set and every page works the same.
Asking
To see, correct or delete what is held about you, ask with your plate and roughly when you parked. If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority. The site is not meant for children under 13.
When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
